Famed Hawaiian Chef Alan Wong has opened a new restaurant in the centre of Shanghai’s Jing’an commercial district. The billionaire restaurateur’s first big project in China, Alan Wong’s Shanghai, is located in the Portman Ritz-Carlton hotel. Wong is again drawing on diverse Hawaiian flavours to inspire his menu.
The chef first made a name for himself with his Honolulu restaurant, an innovative “culinary studio” opened in 1995, and has since cooked for US President Barack Obama at the White House.
